OBJECTIVE:
The primary responsibility is to prepare and arrange filled product containers onto pallets in accordance with customer requirements for storage and shipment. This position assists the Low Moisture Packaging Operator and requires a comprehensive understanding of equipment operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Below are the essential functions of the role. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
All tasks must be performed while complying with Tree Top operational policies, safety regulations, procedures, and good manufacturing practices. Regular and predictable attendance is crucial for this position. It is the duty of every employee at Tree Top Inc. to report any food safety and quality concerns to the appropriate personnel.
Ensure Compliance with Customer Specifications:
Verify that machinery and equipment are functioning correctly and prepared for production. Confirm that equipment settings align with product specifications and startup requirements. Regularly check and calibrate scales as needed. Inspect boxes, liners, plastic bags, and labels for accuracy, ensuring all labels include necessary item numbers and day codes.
Effective Communication:
Maintain open lines of communication with the Low Moisture Packaging Operator, Supervisors, Quality Technicians, and colleagues. Collaborate with Maintenance and Supervisors to investigate any foreign material issues and promptly notify Mechanics of any operational problems.
Box Preparation for Palletizing:
Compress products when necessary and label containers accurately. Seal liners and tape boxes as required. Ensure proper labeling on all boxes. Assist in the ongoing operations of the Low Moisture Packaging and Puff Areas by adjusting flake roll thickness, calcium stearate, and nitrogen levels. Maintain cleanliness and proper functioning of belts, oilers, and machinery. Regularly check scales and sealers for optimal performance. Change Sweco screens as needed and ensure the Baghouse system operates effectively. Operate and monitor the case erector, bag inserter, and Powell auto-filler, ensuring that rejects are managed appropriately. Ensure adequate supplies are available in the packaging area and that the puff tunnel is charged and maintained at the correct PPM. Verify Critical Control Points (CCPs) and communicate findings to the lab, mechanics, operators, and supervisors. Ensure waste is disposed of properly.
Quality Control Monitoring:
Inspect production lines to ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP). Maintain a clean and organized workstation at all times. Blend in rework products as directed by a supervisor.
Team Collaboration:
Support co-workers whenever possible and demonstrate a commitment to teamwork. Adhere to industrial and food safety protocols by following Lock Out/Tag Out procedures, Haz-Com, and Chemical Safety standards. Comply with all Good Manufacturing Practices and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point procedures. Always wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and identify any unsafe conditions or actions, reporting them to the supervisor on duty. Follow all applicable safety regulations and guidelines.
