We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Environmental Consultant to join our team in Indiana. This role will involve leading investigations and research in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) to support INDOT and local infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and prepare NEPA documents for various projects, including minor programmatic projects and complex Categorical Exclusions.
  • Conduct ecological investigations and wetland delineations for project sites, analyzing field data to prepare wetland delineation reports and necessary permits.
  • Assist Project Managers in developing scope, schedule, and budget for assigned projects, ensuring quality standards on all deliverables.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to coordinate tasks and deliverables, communicating potential risks and solutions with Project Managers.
  • Create reports and other documents related to NEPA projects, including justifications for Categorical Exclusions and Environmental Assessments.
  • Balance multiple projects within scope, budget, and/or schedule expectations, ensuring timely completion and high-quality results.

EMCS is a full-service multidiscipline civil engineering firm with offices in Wisconsin, Indiana, and Michigan. With over 40 years of experience, we provide quality planning, design, and field services to both public and private sectors. Our service areas include transportation planning and design, traffic, structural design, environmental, mapping and platting, survey, and construction for projects large and small.

Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience conducting environmental or ecological investigations is necessary.
  • The successful candidate will be qualified or able to become qualified for preparing categorical exclusion type environmental documents under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) per INDOT requirements.
  • Proficiency with ArcGIS and MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is essential.
  • A thorough knowledge of NEPA reports, assessments, permits, and related documents is crucial.
  • Working knowledge and experience working with local, state, and federal permitting agencies are necessary, with a preference for those with experience in Indiana.
  • Strong environmental writing and communication skills are required.
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a project team is essential.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel to project sites as needed are required.
Estimated Salary: $85,000 - $110,000 Per Year
