Key Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation and Presentation: Ensure that all food served to guests meets the highest standards of quality, taste, and presentation.
  • Kitchen Operations: Oversee the daily operations of the kitchen, including menu planning, inventory management, and staff supervision.
  • Staff Management: Train, coach, and mentor culinary staff to ensure they are meeting the highest standards of quality and service.
  • Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels, including ordering and receiving supplies, to ensure that the kitchen is always stocked and ready to meet demand.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure that the kitchen is maintained in a clean and safe environment, meeting all health and safety regulations.
  • Menu Planning: Work with the Sous Chef to plan and implement menus that meet the needs of our guests and align with the World Surf League's culinary standards.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with the Sous Chef, Host, and other members of the culinary team to ensure seamless service and high-quality food preparation.
Requirements
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in a commercial kitchen operation, preferably in a full-service or fine dining environment.
  • Certifications: Food Safety Manager Certification and/or CA Food Handler Permit.
  • Education: Degree in Culinary Arts preferred.
  • Skills: Exceptional work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to work well under pressure.
Working Conditions

This position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. Must be physically able to chop and prepare produce, wipe down surfaces, reach, twist, bend, and be able to pick up debris from the floor or items from storage spaces; able to carry 25 or more pounds.
