Job Summary

The CYP Child and Youth Program Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking nutritious meals and snacks for children and youth in a fast-paced food service environment. This role requires strong culinary skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well under pressure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook a variety of meals and snacks for children and youth, following standardized recipes and food safety guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
  • Manage food storage and inventory, ensuring that all food is stored and handled properly.
  • Coordinate with other staff members to ensure that meals are prepared and served on time.
  • Monitor and control food costs, ensuring that the program stays within budget.
  • Develop and implement new recipes and menu ideas, taking into account dietary restrictions and preferences.
  • Collaborate with the CYP team to plan and implement special events and activities.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary degree or certification preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in food service, preferably in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong culinary skills, including cooking, baking, and food preparation.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced food service environment, with frequent exposure to heat, noise, and physical activity. The CYP Child and Youth Program Cook must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
