Job Summary

The Arizona College of Nursing is seeking a highly qualified Program Director - Dental Assisting to lead our Dental Assisting Program. As a key member of our academic team, you will be responsible for ensuring the program's educational goals and objectives are met, while maintaining compliance with state and national Department of Education standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement curriculum and instructional strategies to enhance student learning and program effectiveness.
  • Recruit, hire, supervise, mentor, and evaluate instructors to ensure high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Monitor program budget, purchase lab supplies and equipment, and oversee maintenance to ensure a safe and effective learning environment.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to instructors for improvement.
  • Represent the College and its mission accurately and positively to a diverse audience, including students, staff, and the public.
  • Meet with students to build relationships, identify departmental needs, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Advise students on attendance, grades, and discipline issues as necessary.
  • Identify students who are at risk of leaving the course and provide additional academic support and/or community assistance.
  • Teach up to three classes per session, as needed.
Requirements
  • Three years' practical experience in the content area or program field.
  • Two years' experience at the college-level, including teaching, developing curriculum, administration, and supervising (preferred).
  • Graduated from a program in the content area or program field at an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
  • Current licensed dentist or dental assistant or hygienist registration or certification through a nationally recognized and accredited certifying agency.
  • Proficient in four-handed and/or six-handed dentistry principle.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness as an instructor and possess skills in faculty team building.
  • Experience and proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
