Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Optometrist to join our medical group in Gaithersburg, Maryland. As an Optometrist, you will be responsible for examining patients with a full range of visual problems, diagnosing visual diseases, disorders, and deficiencies, and prescribing treatment as licensed and credited.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive eye exams to diagnose and treat various eye conditions.
  • Prescribe and fit contact lenses, as well as low-vision aids such as telescopic and microscopic lenses, magnifiers, and other optical devices.
  • Use diagnostic pharmaceutical agents to detect and diagnose ocular pathology, as permitted by state or jurisdictional laws.
  • Collaborate with internal medicine, pediatrics, and ophthalmology teams to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Participate in departmental and educational meetings, including peer review activities, to stay up-to-date on best practices and advancements in the field.
Basic Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited school of Optometry.
  • Enrollment in PECOS within 90 days of hire date.
  • Optometrist License (Maryland) OR Optometrist License (Virginia) OR Optometrist License (District of Columbia).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an interdisciplinary health care environment, or successful completion of an accredited residency program.
