Nature Preschool Lead Teacher Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Nature Preschool Lead Teacher to join our team at the Wildwood Nature Center in Park Ridge, IL.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and leading a 3-5 multi-age classroom, infusing outdoor and environmental education with traditional preschool learning. This position requires strong leadership, initiative, flexibility, and creativity to establish and direct a comprehensive nature preschool environment.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to maintain self-control, composure, and solve problems. They will also be able to lead groups of children on nature hikes in all weather conditions and possess certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED or be able to obtain it within the first three months of employment.

We are seeking applicants to work weekday mornings, afternoons, or a combination of both, with the option to work full week or partial week. The position teaches Nature Preschool (September to May) and Camp Mini Marshmallow (July to August).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and lead a 3-5 multi-age classroom
  • Infuse outdoor and environmental education with traditional preschool learning
  • Lead groups of children on nature hikes in all weather conditions
  • Maintain accurate records relative to all aspects of the class
  • Communicate with parents and staff

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years in an Early Childhood/Preschool classroom
  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
  • Intermediate level written and verbal communication in English
  • Certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED or ability to obtain within the first three months of employment
