About the Role

At MaineHealth, we are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team in supporting individuals with autism and developmental disorders. As a key member of our Developmental Disorders Partial Hospital Program, you will play a vital role in designing and implementing instructional services to guide students towards academic and behavioral success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one educational tutoring to support students' academic growth and development.
  • Collaborate with patients' Individualized Education Program (IEP) teams to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Support mental health treatment in groups led by mental health clinicians.

Program Highlights

  • Support mental health treatment and promote overall well-being.
  • Average census of patients ensures a dynamic and engaging work environment.
  • Ages 7-young adult: Work with a diverse range of students to make a meaningful impact.
  • Average length of stay: 5 weeks, providing a focused and intensive support experience.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in special education or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • License/Certifications: Maine Department of Education: Certification 282 - Teacher of Children with Disabilities.
  • Experience: 1+ year of teaching experience, with a passion for working with individuals with autism and developmental disorders.
