Testa Produce, Inc. is a leading produce distribution company with a rich history dating back to 1912. As a successor entity to Dominick Testa and Sons, we have evolved to meet the changing needs of the restaurant industry. Our state-of-the-art facility in Chicago Terminal Produce Market provides a central selling location for our customers.

Essential Functions:

Inventory Management

  • Conduct daily physical inventory counts to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Monitor product quality and advise buyers of deviations from standards.
  • Slot new product and advise of locations to optimize storage and retrieval.
  • Work with buyers on issues regarding product quantity, quality, and usage.
  • Provide inventory reports to buyers and inventory control manager to inform decision-making.

Quality Control

  • Inspect in-bound freight and warehoused product to ensure quality and document any issues.
  • Check produce in slots on a daily basis to ensure that the product set up for shipping meets acceptable standards.
  • Ensure products are rotated properly during daily slot checking to prevent spoilage.
  • Analyze, identify, and propose action to the solution of problems associated with Quality Assurance.

Competencies, Education, and Experience:

  • Well-organized with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Strong relationship management and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with buyers and inventory control manager.
  • Innovative and creative thinking to identify solutions to inventory management challenges.
  • Listening skills to understand customer needs and preferences.
  • Complex problem-solving to resolve inventory management issues.
  • Bilingual-Spanish preferred to communicate with Spanish-speaking customers and colleagues.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • At least 1+ years of recent and successful experience performing inventory management functions in a produce distribution or processing center.

Physical Demands:

  • Work in cold and wet cooler conditions as low as zero degrees for extended periods.
  • Occasionally lift to 50 lbs.
  • Stand or sit for long periods.

Work Schedule:

  • Monday through Saturday, off on Sunday.
  • Hours are 6 pm until work is completed.
