Role SummaryThe Quality Control Specialist is responsible for examining materials and products to ensure they meet established specifications, utilizing various measuring tools and equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Review products against parts lists, blueprints, specifications, or sample models to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Measure specified dimensions using appropriate testing equipment and methods.
- Identify and mark defective parts according to established procedures.
- Conduct tests to detect structural defects in products.
- Maintain detailed records of defects and rejected parts.
- Employ statistical sampling plans when necessary for inspections.
- Assist in training new quality control staff as needed.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the work area.
- Engage with customers as required.
- Support engineers in investigating failures (root cause analysis) as needed.

- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Oversee inspections to guarantee compliance with quality and reliability standards.
- Suggest enhancements to Quality Assurance processes and manufacturing practices.
- Communicate with supervisors and project management teams to implement necessary changes based on audits and inspections.
- Adhere to all safety rules, regulations, and procedures outlined in the safety manual.
- Encourage safety awareness throughout the workplace.
- Notify supervisors of any safety hazards encountered.
- Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment as required.
- Employ guards on tools and machinery as necessary.
- Follow proper lifting techniques to prevent injury.
- Operate vehicles, equipment, tools, or machines only if authorized.
- Report any injuries or incidents immediately to the supervisor/team lead.
- Promote a positive safety culture and refrain from unsafe practices.
- Provide suggestions for safer operational procedures to supervisors.
- Ability to identify problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret a wide range of technical instructions in both mathematical and diagrammatic forms.
- Utilize common sense and industry knowledge to address daily inquiries from colleagues, management, and clients.
- Apply mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, and geometry as needed.
- Employ concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions in practical scenarios.
- Troubleshoot interactions between inspection equipment and instruments using available reference materials.
- Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Write concise correspondence.
- Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings to clients and coworkers.
- Basic computer proficiency with standard software such as Microsoft Office.
- Ability to understand and interpret basic measurement techniques.
- Familiarity with dimensional inspections and the use of calipers and micrometers.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, including specifications.
- Familiarity with inspections, audits, standard operating procedures, and ISO standards is advantageous.
- Basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing and cycle counting is a plus.
- Regularly required to stand, use hands, and walk. Frequent sitting, reaching, and talking or hearing is also necessary.
- Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly, up to 35 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- High School Diploma required.
- One-year certificate from a college or technical school preferred.
- Three to five years of related experience and/or training preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
