Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Group Home Supervisor to join our team at AccessStar Community Living Services Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and providing direct care in the operation of a Group Home Facility, ensuring the medical, physical, psychological, and social needs of intellectually disabled and developmentally disabled adults are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and participate in the supervision and direct care to residents, including interviewing for progress assessments.
  • Administer Medicaid Waiver services and ensure compliance with state and local licensure standards.
  • Schedule, train, lead, and evaluate the work of Group Home staff, assessing their needs and developing individual service plans.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate records of individual service plans, phone contacts, and other relevant information.
  • Prepare and maintain reports, including needs lists and monthly service statistics, to meet program, agency, and licensure requirements.
  • Transport residents and teach them basic living skills, including cooking, nutrition, and laundry, cleaning, and budgeting.
  • Provide crisis intervention and implement VHDA and HUD requirements, conducting related inspections for the group home.
  • Recruit and make recommendations on hiring, terminations, and evaluations, preparing payroll forms and performing other administrative duties.
  • Maintain facilities in compliance with building and health codes, initiating repairs and maintenance as needed.
  • Monitor resident medication management and coordinate with group home staff, prescribing physicians, and pharmacies.
  • Coordinate financial assistance, contact obligations, and other services with other agency staff members and external providers.
  • Makes recommendations and proposals regarding program issues, resource needs, policies, and procedures.
  • Train and orient staff and care providers, overseeing the input of service and other documentation to the electronic records system.
Requirements
  • Thorough knowledge of the theories, principles, practices, and techniques related to the care and treatment of individuals with intellectual disabilities.
  • Considerable knowledge of case management principles and practices, electronic health records, and maintenance, security, and safety practices and procedures related to the operation of a residential facility.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of others, communicate effectively orally and in writing, and operate a vehicle.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data from a variety of sources, including electronically, and prepare recommendations, proposals, reports, etc.
  • Ability to plan, train, and supervise the work of others, maintain effective working relationships, and make recommendations and proposals regarding program issues, resource needs, policies, and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in the Behavioral Sciences and considerable experience in residential treatment programs for intellectually disabled/developmentally disabled adults, including some supervisory experience.
  • Valid Virginia driver's license, Certification in First Aid/CPR, Training in Therapeutic Options (THEROPS), and Medication Management.
