Fleet Mechanic Job Description

NHT Logistics, Inc. is a family-owned transportation and logistics company seeking a skilled Fleet Mechanic to join our team. As a Fleet Mechanic, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of our fleet of trucks and trailers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on trucks and trailers, including electrical, mechanical, air, and hydraulic systems.
  • Evaluate equipment for safety issues and take corrective action as needed.
  • Learn and utilize Emdecs Kona fleet management software to track and manage maintenance and repairs.
  • Provide detailed reports of work performed and repairs made to equipment.
  • Use tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to meet the needs of the shop and the company.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience as a mechanic, preferably in the transportation industry.
  • Basic knowledge and skill set in diesel and trailer mechanics.
Preferred Skills:
  • Ability to communicate effectively with training materials and team members.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as maintenance instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Verbal communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated with the ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks.
Work Environment:

The Fleet Mechanic will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential. The Fleet Mechanic may be required to lift heavy objects and work in a physically demanding environment.
