Job Title: Phlebotomist II

Job Summary:

The primary function of a Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow improvements. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
  • Properly explain the process of venipuncture blood drawing and/or other specimen collections to patients.
  • Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
  • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
  • Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.
  • Packaging specimens for transport.
  • Store specimen samples according to required temperatures.
  • Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
  • Attend annual department trainings.

Work Environment:

This is a fully on-site position with Dearborn, Michigan being the home base. Must be willing to travel or "float" to multiple locations across metro Detroit.

Mileage expensed beyond commute to Dearborn.
