Job Summary:

Corewell Health is seeking a skilled Medical Technologist to join our team in the Clinical Pathology Chemistry department. As a Medical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results, which are essential for diagnosing and treating patients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Independently perform routine and complex laboratory tests and procedures, including chemical, hematologic, microscopic, and microbiologic analyses.

• Maintain technical and organizational skills, adhering to established turnaround times and quality control standards.

• Release quality patient test results, evaluate instrument performance, and correlate results with other laboratory data and disease states.

• Identify technical, instrument, pharmacologic, and physiologic causes of unexpected test results and take corrective action.

• Participate in the development and design of new test procedures and methodologies, as well as the evaluation and introduction of new instruments and procedures.

• Provide direction and guidance to medical laboratory technicians and other laboratory personnel on specimen acceptability, unusual or discrepant results, instrument or method problems, and out-of-control situations.

• Communicate effectively with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare workers regarding lab results, procedures, and technology.

Requirements:

• Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university with 16 semester hours in biology and 16 semester hours in chemistry.

• Completion of a clinical laboratory approved or accredited program by NAACLS or at least three months of documented laboratory training in each specialty.

• Certification, licensure, or registration by a recognized agency, such as ASCP or AMT.

Working Conditions:
