The HVAC Control Systems Specialist will be tasked with the installation (commissioning), troubleshooting, maintenance, and programming of building automation control systems, ensuring superior service for both internal and external clients. This role requires a solid understanding of HVAC systems, control devices, basic computer operations, electronics, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, direct digital controls, airflow management, hydronic systems, IT networking, and building control methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct system start-up, verification, and troubleshooting for HVAC control systems.
- Assist in wiring verification and automation system start-ups using commissioning tools.
- Perform adjustments and calibrations, submitting detailed commissioning reports on automation systems.
- Engage in job site meetings and final inspections on assigned projects, completing all necessary closeout documentation.
- Repair building systems, including air handler controls, room controls, chilled water controls, and issues related to the building automation system, as well as perform equipment repairs as necessary.
- Facilitate the transition of projects from installation to the service team.
- Timely completion of paperwork, including time sheets, expense reports, work order postings, on-site documentation, and project status updates.
- Execute additional duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications:
- High school diploma or state-recognized GED; a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related technical field is preferred.
- Experience in the installation and/or servicing of electronic control systems, HVAC, or other mechanical equipment is advantageous.
- Basic knowledge of HVAC systems, sequences, and applications.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment, providing dedicated support to clients.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Adhere to safety standards and maintain accountability for company-issued and procured assets by documenting usage, wear, and condition.
- Ability to work in diverse environments, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing ladders, scaffolding, and using high-lift equipment; working in ducts, crawl spaces, roofs, basements, above ceilings, and in varying weather conditions.
- Specific vision capabilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must meet any requirements imposed by specific projects, clients, or company needs.
- Capable of using hand tools, laptops, email, smartphones, and tablets.
- Able to lift and transport equipment and tools weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
