Position Overview

The Clinical Trials Finance Manager plays a pivotal role in supporting the financial operations of the Clinical Trials Unit at Central Michigan University. This position is responsible for providing strategic oversight and guidance to ensure the effective management of all fiscal responsibilities.

The manager will lead and coordinate the operational, administrative, and financial policies necessary for the seamless functioning of the Clinical Trials Unit. Key responsibilities include overseeing pre-award processes for grant and contract proposals, as well as managing post-award activities for externally funded projects.

As a liaison among various stakeholders, granting agencies, and the institution, the incumbent will ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and maintain robust communication channels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the financial operations of the Clinical Trials Unit, ensuring adherence to university and sponsor policies.
  • Supervise the finance and clinical services coordinator, providing leadership and direction.
  • Develop and monitor annual budgets, including revenue and expense projections.
  • Implement and assess procedural practices within the Clinical Trials Unit, making revisions as necessary.
  • Facilitate the development, submission, negotiation, and management of clinical trials for externally funded projects.
  • Oversee the implementation and training for the Clinical Trials Management System (CTMS).
  • Ensure accurate data entry and reporting for clinical trial and grant activities.
  • Conduct analyses of financial reports and personnel transactions related to sponsored projects.
  • Collaborate with various university offices to enhance operational efficiencies.
  • Provide training and support to staff on clinical trial management policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with a minimum of four years in budget management and grant administration within a higher education or healthcare setting. Strong knowledge of compliance regulations and effective communication skills are essential.

Preferred: Six years of relevant experience, supervisory skills, and familiarity with Clinical Trial Management software.

This role is vital for fostering collaboration across diverse teams and ensuring the financial sustainability of the Clinical Trials Unit.
