Job Title: Experienced Railcar Repair Technician

UTLX is seeking a skilled and experienced railcar repair technician to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for conducting all aspects of repair and maintenance on tank cars.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct railcar inspections to ensure compliance with FRA, AAR, and customer requirements
  • Perform repairs as necessary, using current safety and quality standards and repair procedures
  • Coordinate and complete repairs in an efficient manner and within assigned hours
  • Maintain work area in a neat and orderly manner and report potential hazards
  • Notify supervision of any materials and/or equipment required to ensure completion of job tasks
  • Interact well with team members and supervision
  • Meet the expectations and requirements of all customers to ensure a best-in-class customer experience
  • Ensure all necessary invoicing, inspection, and work order information is accurate and complete
  • Actively participate in safety assessments and equipment inspections
  • Follow all safety rules and practices
  • May be involved in safety committees or initiatives
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Job-related knowledge, including following written instructions
  • Ability to safely operate machinery, including large work vehicles and forklifts
  • Dependability and reliability to show up for scheduled work shifts, including overtime
  • Ability to learn basic railcar knowledge
  • Proficiency with basic hand and power tools
  • Ability to learn basic knowledge of how to read Engineering drawings
  • Ability to pass DOT Requirements (a plus)
  • Ability to perform confined space entry or monitoring and create hot work permits
  • Ability to pass any required NDT disciplines and function-specific certifications, including tank car welding, and demonstrate strong familiarity with AAR rules and regulations
  • Ability to obtain Welding and Airbrake Test certifications within months (timeline and required test depend on specific location)
