Program Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Program Merchant to join our team at McCoy's Building Supply. As a key member of our merchandising team, you will be responsible for defining and managing strategic roles for assigned categories, negotiating merchandise program details, and developing and executing marketing and advertising programs to support store sales.
Key Responsibilities
- Support store operations by negotiating programs within assigned categories, soliciting input from Regional and Store Managers, and resolving problems and building on successes.
- Meet with existing vendors to plan and review existing programs, communicate McCoy's program requirements, and review pending changes in vendor product mix.
- Prepare and present Program Financial Reviews and analyses for Stock and Special Order sales in assigned categories, including discussion and analyses of program performance, vendor performance, and lead time, error rates, quality, and customer service.
- Develop and implement marketing and advertising programs to promote assigned product categories, negotiate and collect co-op advertising funds, and review campaign results for effectiveness and efficiency.
- Meet with potential vendors of existing and new products, develop and implement new products/programs as needed, and establish performance goals, displays, set-up or resets, negotiated minimums, payment terms, and competitive retails.
- Work interdependently with Inventory Management Replenishment Buyers and Store associates to ensure inventory levels are appropriate for each store and season in assigned product categories.
- Responsible for keeping McCoy's system information and vendor information synchronized, acting on store requested items in a timely manner, and working interdependently with Junior Merchant(s) and Merchandise Services to set up SKU information in McCoy's system.
- Understand competitive cost and retail situations, work interdependently with Pricing Team to suggest appropriate retail pricing, and act to lower incoming costs wherever possible.
- Visit retail stores on occasion to review product lines and placements, attend trade shows, vendor facilities, and factories to visit with current vendors and prospective vendors on product lines.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures while carrying out the responsibilities of position and attend all team meetings and company training sessions as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations, and ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts, apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry, and solve practical problems in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to utilize Microsoft Word & Excel, IBM Content Manager, MAC21, and other 3rd party software applications at an intermediate level.
- Knowledge and understanding of basic and intermediate purchasing and merchandising principles, prior experience working in the retail industry, preferably in the building supply industry.
