Position Overview

The Junior Sommelier at Estiatorio Milos plays a crucial role in overseeing our extensive wine and beverage offerings. As a knowledgeable resource, you will guide our patrons in their selections and recommend perfect pairings. Collaborating closely with the Restaurant Director, you will ensure operational efficiency while delivering service that reflects the high standards of Estiatorio Milos.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all elements of the wine and beverage program, including procurement, inventory management, organization, and cost control
  • Design and execute training programs for existing and new staff to deepen their knowledge of wine tasting and service
  • Work alongside management and culinary teams to refresh the wine list
  • Assist with daily operational duties, including reporting and procedural tasks
  • Inform guests about our beverage selections, offering tailored recommendations based on their dining choices and preferences
  • Ensure wines are served at ideal temperatures, in suitable glassware, and that bottles are opened properly
  • Foster a positive atmosphere that promotes a professional and cohesive team culture based on trust, integrity, and high performance
  • Provide guidance, feedback, and encouragement to the service team to support ongoing development and engagement
  • Greet and welcome guests in a professional and friendly manner
  • Monitor and proactively respond to guest requests, inquiries, and concerns

Qualifications

  • At least three (3) years of experience in a sommelier role
  • Experience in a fine dining environment is preferred
  • Proven knowledge of food and beverage pairings
  • Strong understanding of pricing, budgeting, and cost management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken; knowledge of an additional language is a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Compensation

Salary: $100,000 per year (approximate)
