Job Summary:


The Certified Respiratory Therapist plays a vital role in the assessment, treatment, and management of patients with respiratory disorders. This position involves collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal respiratory care from diagnosis through to therapeutic interventions.

Respiratory therapists are expected to perform their duties under the supervision of qualified physicians, ensuring that all aspects of respiratory care are executed with precision and adherence to established protocols.


Qualifications:

Mandatory:
- New Jersey Respiratory License
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Certification as a CRT or RRT within one year of employment

Desirable:
- 2-3 years of relevant experience
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications are highly recommended.

Key Responsibilities:
- Administer aerosol medications, chest physiotherapy, and other related treatments as per physician directives or approved guidelines. Conduct patient rounds to provide necessary care.


Evaluate and interpret patient conditions using laboratory and radiological data alongside vital signs to determine appropriate care based on identified needs.

Review therapy orders for thoroughness, relevance, quality, and efficacy, making recommendations for adjustments based on assessments and best practice guidelines.


Accurately document all patient interactions and care plans in accordance with departmental policies, including assessments, care plans, electronic medication administration records, patient education, and performance improvement metrics.

Ensure timely completion of all assigned tasks.


Exhibit proficiency in the use of oxygen therapy, BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow nasal cannulas (HFNC) across various patient demographics, including neonates, infants, pediatrics, and adults. This includes device selection, application, operational checks, and therapy assessment. Report any adverse reactions or side effects.


Demonstrate expertise in both invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation techniques across diverse patient populations. This includes device selection, application, operational checks, troubleshooting, and therapy effectiveness assessments conducted thrice per shift. Report any adverse reactions or side effects.

Adhere to all departmental, infection control, and safety regulations.

Maintain knowledge of National Patient Safety Goals and relevant standards from regulatory bodies.

Organize and prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines. Exhibit the ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team, interacting with colleagues in a respectful and constructive manner.

Provide emergency airway management and maintain patient ventilation during critical situations. If certified, establish and maintain arterial lines and perform arterial punctures for sample collection. Analyze arterial, capillary, and venous blood samples.

Complete all mandatory competencies and online training within designated timeframes. Participate in both internal and external educational opportunities as part of ongoing professional development.
