Job Title: Respiratory Therapist Cert

Job Summary:

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, evaluating and testing patients with breathing system complications, and working under the guidance of expert physicians.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer aerosol medication, Chest PT, and related therapies as per physician orders or approved protocols.
  • Perform rounds on assigned patients to deliver appropriate care.
  • Assess and interpret patient status using Laboratory and Radiology results, vital signs, and other assessments to identify and provide appropriate care.
  • Evaluate therapy orders for completeness, appropriateness, quality, and effectiveness using Evidence-Based Practice Guidelines.
  • Recommend changes in the care plan based on assessments and guidelines.
  • Complete patient records and documentation according to Department policy, including patient assessment, plan of care, E-MAR, patient education, and performance improvement fields.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skill in the use of Oxygen Therapy, BiPAP, CPAP, and High Flow Nasal Cannulas (HFNC) for use in primary assignment area patient populations.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skill in the use of invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation in primary assignment area patient populations.
  • Comply with all Department, Infection Prevention, and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Determine priorities and organize work and time to meet them.
  • Interact tactfully, constructively, and diplomatically with others.
  • Perform emergency airway care procedures and maintain patient ventilation during emergent situations.

Requirements:

  • A NJ Respiratory License
  • BLS certification
  • CRT, RRT certification within 1 year of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of experience is preferable.
  • ACLS, PALS, and NRP is highly recommended.
