Job DescriptionJob Summary:We are seeking a highly skilled Data Center Technician to join our team at S2ssoft. As a key member of our infrastructure team, you will be responsible for installing, testing, and maintaining our data center infrastructure, including fiber optic cables and network equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Cabling and termination of fiber optic cables, including mounting and installing racks, patch panels, and hardware.
  • Performing testing and troubleshooting of fiber optic cables, including continuity testing, voltage-ohmmeter testing, and troubleshooting opens, crosses, shorts, and transpose pairs.
  • Installing and terminating LC, SC, ST, FC, FDDI, SMA, and MPO/MTP connectors for both multi-mode and single-mode fiber.
  • Terminating simplex and duplex jumper cords, as well as outside plant fiber and indoor tight buffered multimode and single-mode fiber.
  • Installing fan-out kits, including buffer tubes, and calculating end-to-end loss budgets in accordance with TIA/EIA standards.
  • Completing all paperwork accurately and on time, including timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, and tool transfers.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Proficiency in terminating all connector types and methods for SMF and MMF systems.
  • Experience in testing and troubleshooting MMF and SMF systems, including OTDR and PMLS.
  • Prefer 3-5 years of experience in fiber optics.
  • Industry certifications, such as Corning, FOA, or BICSI, are preferred.
  • Experience in data center installation and mechanical and fusion splicing is preferred.
  • Ability to work at heights, off a ladder, and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds, and move up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to see and distinguish different colors, read small print, and hear and recognize audible signals.

  • Ability to travel to various sites as needed.
