Position SummaryThe Surgical Services Information Coordinator embodies the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine, adhering to our Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program while ensuring compliance with all relevant policies and standards.
This role involves coordinating and executing tasks related to surgical scheduling, managing control desk operations, patient registration, and facilitating effective communication within the unit. The Information Coordinator is essential in delivering timely, high-quality services to all stakeholders involved in surgical care.
Key Responsibilities- Surgical Scheduling: Manage the scheduling of surgical cases, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established protocols.
- Control Desk Operations: Oversee patient arrivals, coordinate transport assignments, and manage communication between surgical teams.
- Patient Registration: Ensure complete and accurate patient information is collected and communicated to relevant departments.
- Unit Communication: Facilitate effective communication among surgical staff, patients, and families regarding case updates and changes.
- Patient Charges: Ensure accurate patient charge documentation and reporting.
- Customer Service: Provide assistance to visitors and vendors, ensuring compliance with hospital policies.
- Administrative Support: Assist with scheduling, inventory management, and other administrative tasks as needed.
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a medical setting
- Familiarity with medical terminology
- Basic computer skills
- Experience with electronic medical records
- Strong multitasking abilities
- Collaboration skills across various specialties
- Effective time management
- Prior experience in customer service
Preferred:
- Post-secondary education or relevant diploma
