Job Overview
The MRI Technologist operates under the general guidance of the MRI Manager, site-specific Lead Technologist, or Radiologist.

This role involves the independent management of MRI equipment to produce high-quality imaging while ensuring exceptional patient care across all age groups.

The technologist is tasked with screening all patients and staff entering zones 3 and 4 to guarantee magnet safety.

Core Responsibilities
1. Execute all imaging procedures proficiently, maintaining high standards. This includes:
- Proper positioning
- Selection of appropriate coils
- Comprehensive understanding of scanning protocols.

Imaging studies must be completed promptly, charged accurately, and submitted to the radiologist for interpretation immediately following the exam.

2. Verify patient identity using two identifiers and communicate with patients and medical staff regarding the MR safety questionnaire and relevant clinical history.

Ensure completion of the questionnaire and gather necessary history to uphold magnet safety for patients entering the department. Communicate any sedation requirements to the medical staff and inform patients and families of any delays.

3. Prepare the scanning room for procedures adhering to approved cleaning protocols.

Ensure proper disposal of sharps and maintain adequate supplies and linens in the examination rooms.

4. Prepare and administer contrast materials related to MRI procedures as prescribed by a physician or in accordance with approved Radiology protocols.

5. Be knowledgeable of and implement emergency procedures as necessary.

6. Perform department and hospital-related computer functions pertinent to the role, ensuring all data is entered and recorded accurately and promptly.

7. Exhibit competency in executing quality control tasks associated with equipment and procedures to meet established standards.

8. Stay informed of organizational, affiliate, and departmental updates by checking email during each shift.

9. Provide clinical instruction to staff technologists and students as needed, and assist in preparing staff schedules to ensure proper department staffing and coordinate daily workflow.

Minimum Qualifications
Certification Program - Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.

Team members in this role as of the specified date are grandfathered from the minimum requirements listed above pending state and regulatory guidelines.

Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses
ARRT registered in Radiology & MRI; OR ARRT registered in MRI; OR ARMRIT - American Registry of MRI certification.
BLS certified.
