Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct ongoing systematic assessments of patients' physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive status, as well as their nutritional needs, pain levels, and education requirements.
  • Develop and implement goal-directed care plans that prioritize patient needs and are based on determined nursing diagnoses and patient outcomes.
  • Deliver care in a thorough, skillful, consistent, and continuous manner, taking into account patients' rights, age-specific needs, cultural and ethical beliefs.
  • Establish effective working relationships with healthcare team members, patients, and families, and delegate tasks appropriately.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of care provided by healthcare team members and utilize effective communication methods and skills.
  • Participate in unit and department performance improvement activities, and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest medical research and best practices, and apply this knowledge to improve patient care.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients and their families.
Requirements:
  • One year of recent experience in a Neonatal Level III nursery or completion of a KP NICU Training Program within the past 12 months.
  • Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program and completion of the current hours required by the BRN of RN student clinical experience; or Graduate of registered nursing program and either: hours of RN experience in clinical area of specialty from a licensed acute care facility within three (3) years of graduation; or 2) graduate of an accredited licensed vocational nursing program that includes clinical student experience in acute care and has worked 2000 hours as a licensed vocational nurse within the clinical area of specialty within three (3) years before graduation.
  • Registered Nurse License (California) and Basic Life Support certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the RN scope of practice and commitment to service orientation.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills, as well as good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to navigate electronic medical record systems and other healthcare technology.
Work Environment:

This position is located at Kaiser Permanente's Oakland Hospital, in the Neo-Natal ICU Unit. The work schedule is part-time, with 30 hours per week, and the shift is evening, from 7:15 PM to 7:45 AM.
