Job Summary

Katmai is seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician PRN to join our team. As a Pharmacy Technician PRN, you will play a critical role in supporting our pharmacy operations and ensuring the highest level of patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fill prescriptions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Mix and prepare pharmaceutical preparations, including compounding and labeling.
  • Receive and store incoming supplies, maintaining a clean and organized inventory.
  • Check prescriptions for patient eligibility, drug availability, and potential interactions.
  • Exercise care in handling controlled substances, adhering to legal and regulatory guidelines.
  • Inform pharmacists and prescribers of potential issues, documenting changes in patient records.
  • Consult with pharmacists and medical staff on medication matters, including contraindications and side effects.
  • Determine the validity of prescriptions, ensuring compliance with physician extender lists.
  • Provide guidance on pharmacy policies, laws, and regulations to government personnel.
  • Annotate prescriptions with initials and/or numbered stamps to verify dispensing checks.
  • Routinely review standard reference texts and journals to stay current on trends and new medications.
  • Compound medications for inpatient or outpatient use, requiring extemporaneous manufacturing procedures.
  • Perform supply process duties, including ordering, stocking, and inventory maintenance.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance, adhering to Katmai's business philosophy and practice.
Requirements
  • Graduation from a Pharmacy Technician program accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) or certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
  • Ability to function independently as a pharmacy technician and obtain national certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board within 1 year of employment.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Red Cross.
  • Compliance with site-specific health screening and immunization requirements.
  • Security access and/or background checks as required.
  • Obtain and maintain all required documents, certifications, licenses, etc. listed on the credentialing checklist.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Contractor personnel must be able to read, understand, speak, and write English fluently.
