Job Summary:

As a Patient Safety Attendant, you will be responsible for performing basic patient monitoring activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). This role requires a high level of attention to detail and the ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.

Responsibilities:

  • Remain at the bedside of assigned patients at all times unless relieved by an appropriate staff member.
  • Assist in calming and/or reorienting patients in cases of agitation or confusion.
  • Remove visible hazards and/or broken equipment from the immediate environment and report as appropriate.
  • Document observations according to hospital guidelines.
  • Meet with the patient's nurse at the beginning of the shift to review the patient care plan and activities for the shift.
  • Observe isolation precautions as indicated.
  • Observe monitoring equipment and notify nursing staff of alarms.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

Requirements:

  • No education required.
  • No experience required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent reaching, gripping, and keyboard use/data entry.

Work Environment:

This role is a variable shift position and requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
