Environmental Scientist Job Description

At Colliers Engineering & Design, we are seeking an Environmental Scientist to join our Albany, NY team. As an Environmental Scientist, you will conduct site assessments, investigations, surveys, and prepare environmental documentation.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct environmental site assessments and investigations to identify potential environmental hazards.
  • Prepare environmental documentation, including reports and specifications, for projects.
  • Assist in the assembly of pricing, estimating, scoping, and marketing strategies for proposed projects.
  • Follow standards of practice, including ASTM, OSHA, NYSICR-56, NYSDEC, and USEPA regulations.
  • Provide quality control to draft documents and drawings.
  • Work with project designers to determine the environmental impact of projects.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other design and technical professionals who are part of the project team.
  • Perform field inspections, research, measurements, well monitoring, operations & maintenance of remedial equipment, and sample collection.
  • Coordinate submission of lab samples.
  • Complete client-specific safety training as required.
  • Attend client meetings as required.
  • Provide Phase I & II Environmental Site Assessments and investigations.
  • Conduct asbestos inspections and quantifications.
  • Conduct EPA and state-regulated mold inspections and quantifications.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or Science or related field from an accredited university.
  • At least 2 years of experience in Environmental Engineering or applicable technical field.
  • Experience with asbestos & contamination preferred.
  • 40 Hour HAZWOPER Certification preferred.
  • 8-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER Supervisor Certification helpful.
  • OSHA 10-Hour Safety & Health Standards for Construction preferred.
  • NYSDOL ACM Inspector Certification helpful.
  • Willingness to undertake training as necessary to fill environmental needs.
  • Technical writing skills preferred.
