Plant Maintenance Mechanic

The Plant Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of all property and production assets at Prairie Farms Dairy, Inc. This includes performing routine maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting to prevent equipment downtime and maintain a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities- Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on production, packaging, processing equipment, and utility systems to ensure continuous operation.
- Emergency Response: Be readily available for emergency repairs in breakdown situations to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules.
- Technical Expertise: Read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, electrical schematics, service manuals, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Preventative Maintenance: Perform preventative maintenance check-ups and review SPC charts and data to identify potential issues and prevent equipment failures.
- Line Support: Provide support to manufacturing lines, including ozone generation, line/lube delivery, chemical delivery, ingredient delivery, and PH house maintenance.
- Documentation: Complete work orders in a timely manner, maintaining high quality standards and ensuring all required information is documented in accordance with SOPs.
- Inventory Management: Assist in maintaining parts and supplies inventory by reporting low supply levels to the Supervisor.
- Continuous Improvement: Utilize a continuous improvement mindset to identify opportunities to improve processes and contribute to the development of a high-performing team.
- Compliance: Follow Good Manufacturing Practices, maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work area, and adhere to all required work safe practices, including lockout-tagout requirements and wearing of required PPE in designated areas.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Training: Formal Engineering/Maintenance Training desired.
- Experience: No experience required with certificate, 1 year minimum experience in a maintenance role within a manufacturing facility, preferably food and beverage industry.
- Technical Skills: 1 year minimum experience with one or more technical experiences: Electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, computer-controlled equipment, PLC, and HVAC.
- Equipment Experience: 1 year minimum experience on a variety of equipment, including lubricating, cleaning, material handling, motor control, relay control, process control, and packaging equipment.
- Preferred Experience: Professional experience with ammonia refrigeration systems.
- Physical Demands: Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, and bend for virtually the entire shift, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, and work in a wet environment with moderate to high noise volume.
- Work Schedule: Must be willing to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
- Teamwork: Be able to effectively work in a team environment, communicate verbally and in writing, and contribute to a positive and productive work environment.
