Job Summary:
The Clinical Services Technician collects specimens from patients of all ages with minimal impact. This role is responsible for processing and allocating laboratory specimens and orders from various sources, ensuring proper patient and specimen identification, and verifying the appropriateness of specimens and accompanying orders. The technician must organize laboratory workflow, prioritize processing and distribution of specimens, and utilize equipment, instruments, and computer systems to test, request, accession, label, and deliver specimens to the appropriate laboratory sections within acceptable time frames.
Responsibilities:
• Collect specimens from patients of all ages with minimal impact
• Process and allocate laboratory specimens and orders from various sources
• Verify proper patient and specimen identification and appropriateness of specimens and accompanying orders
• Organize laboratory workflow and prioritize processing and distribution of specimens
• Utilize equipment, instruments, and computer systems to test, request, accession, label, and deliver specimens to the appropriate laboratory sections within acceptable time frames
• Perform specified procedures within the scope of established testing methods and responsibilities
• Perform and document routine maintenance and quality control procedures on specified equipment and troubleshoot as needed
Requirements:
1 year of clinical experience as a Phlebotomist or equivalent education requirement
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Graduate Phlebotomy preferred
Phlebotomy certification preferred
Hours of Work: 10p-8a
Weekend Requirements: Every Other
Call Requirements: 2 or 3 weekends per year
