Job Description

**About the Role**

As a highly skilled FTTx Design Engineer on our Telecom Engineering and Design team at Olsson, you will play a crucial role in creating innovative fiber-to-the-x (FTTx) designs that drive business growth and customer satisfaction.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Serving Boundary Sizing: Utilize GIS address data to analyze, interpret, and organize large datasets, ensuring accurate serving boundary sizing.
  • Feeder Route Determination: Determine feeder routes, distribution routes, and drops to premises by leveraging parcel, ROW, and easement documentation.
  • Fiber Allocation: Review field staking sheets, as-Builts, and field-collected data to determine the optimal running line and construction method.
  • Aerial Imagery Analysis: Analyze aerial imagery and general maps to identify existing utilities or potential obstructions.
  • Constructible Plan Sets: Produce and review high-quality constructible plan sets using GIS-based software.

**Qualifications**

  • Associate's/Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Work Experience: Possess a strong foundation in telecommunications, engineering, or a related field.
  • OSP Construction Methods and Best Practices: Demonstrate knowledge of OSP construction methods and best practices.
  • FTTx Design and OSP Experience: Possess 3-6 years of experience in FTTx design and/or OSP.
  • General Knowledge of FTTx and OSP Networks: Understand the principles of FTTx and OSP networks.
  • Google Earth KMZ Files and AutoCAD-Based Software: Familiarity with Google Earth KMZ files and AutoCAD-based software is preferred.
  • ESRI ArcGIS Software Products and Net Designer: Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS software products and Net Designer is preferred.
