This full-time role is pivotal in overseeing the financial stewardship of the organization. The Accounting Manager will orchestrate and guide the accounting functions within the department. This position is tasked with ensuring the integrity of the accounting system through meticulous management of the general ledger, accounts receivable, and accounts payable, including the reconciliation and analysis of various accounts while upholding internal controls. Additional clerical duties may be performed as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Direct and supervise daily operations of the general ledger, including month-end and year-end accruals.
- Manage the accounts payable process, which encompasses vendor invoice processing, payment approvals, and vendor statement reconciliations.
- Handle the processing of insurance payments received through checks and virtual credit cards.
- Conduct reconciliations and analyses of various accounts within the general ledger to pinpoint discrepancies and variances.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address discrepancies, clarify financial data, and facilitate month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and analyses to support decision-making and compliance mandates.
- Establish and uphold effective internal controls to protect company assets and ensure precise financial reporting.
- Stay informed on accounting standards, regulations, and industry best practices, ensuring compliance and adapting processes as necessary.
- Review and assist with payroll system operations.
- Support the year-end audit process.
- Contribute to the creation of annual government reports, including UDS and cost reports.
- Develop internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget formulation.
- Audit accounts to ensure adherence to state and federal regulations; coordinate with external auditors and provide necessary information for the annual external audit.
- Offer recommendations to management regarding short- and long-term financial objectives and policies.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS

Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in accounting.
- Comprehensive knowledge of general ledger, accounts receivable, and accounts payable principles, practices, and processes.
- Experience with QuickBooks is advantageous.
- Familiarity with non-profit healthcare accounting is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit; utilize hands to manipulate objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and communicate verbally. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this role include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is typically quiet.
