Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities associated with this position encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with the Shop Foreman and Superintendent to adhere to production timelines.
  • Deliver high-quality and efficient work without the need for constant oversight.
  • Execute additional job-related tasks as required.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations.
  • Maintain open communication with the superintendent and management.
  • Identify equipment malfunctions or defective materials and report to supervisors.
  • Verify the accuracy and completeness of each job order.
  • Inspect workpieces for imperfections and measure them to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Set up and operate hand and power tools typical in the welding field, including shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
  • Utilize manual or semi-automatic welding machinery to join metal components using various techniques such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, shielded metal arc, resistance welding, and laser welding.
  • Weld components in various positions including flat, vertical, or overhead. Ignite torches or activate power supplies, and initiate arcs by touching electrodes to the metals being joined.
  • Employ hand-welding or flame-cutting tools to join metal parts or to fill gaps, indentations, or seams in fabricated metal products or piping.
  • Construct and assemble duct segments and attach fittings according to specifications.
  • Conduct welding procedures as per job orders.
Qualifications and Skills
  • At least 2 years of experience in duct welding (in-shop or field), covering all of the following methods:
    • MIG
    • TIG
    • Stick
  • Ability to pass an internal welding assessment.
  • Possession of personal hand tools, including a welding hood.
  • Physical requirements: Occasional sitting, frequent bending, crouching, kneeling, balancing, climbing, and constant standing, walking, reaching, and gripping.
  • Material handling: Capable of lifting from floor level to overhead, with occasional lifts up to 100 lbs., frequent lifts up to 50 lbs., and constant lifts up to 25 lbs.
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent work experience.
  • Successful completion of a background check is mandatory.
Essential Requirements
  • Regular and supervisory probation period may be required, if applicable.
  • Random drug testing will be conducted.
  • This position may necessitate a background investigation.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are essential.
