Position Overview:


Under the guidance of an LCSW, the therapist delivers professional mental health services to children and youth in Family Foster Care (FFC) and Therapeutic Family Foster Care (TFFC).

This role involves thorough assessment and treatment aimed at addressing personal, behavioral, or familial challenges. The therapist will adopt a strength-based, youth and family development approach.

Furthermore, they will ensure the integration of the Sanctuary Seven commitments into practice, utilizing the tools of this model as appropriate to address the trauma symptoms prevalent in the foster care demographic.


Reporting Structure:
Mental Health Supervisor

Work Schedule: 35 Hours/Week; Exempt (Onsite presence required, with potential for a hybrid schedule. Evening availability until 7pm is necessary)

Compensation:
$65,000 - $75,000

Key Responsibilities:


Deliver individual, group, and/or family therapy to children and youth in Family Foster Care and Treatment Family Foster Care using clinical methods to address significant trauma and complex needs.


Coordinate with external mental health providers if youth are receiving therapeutic services outside of Good Shepherd Mental Health Department to ensure cohesive treatment.


Engage in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings to collaborate on case planning and medical staff to update the team on youth's treatment progress.

Maintain precise client records and submit all time-sensitive documentation within required timelines.


Complete necessary documentation in Connections and Evolv (psychosocial intakes, session notes, outreach attempts) and prepare initial and quarterly treatment plans, annual mental health assessments, and trauma-based assessments for each assigned youth.

Provide suitable service recommendations to support diagnostic impressions and case conceptualization.


Implement interventions and clinical support to assist the treatment team in crisis situations with youth, maintaining continuous communication with all members of each client's team regarding relevant updates.

Willingness to provide outreach services in the community to engage youth in services is essential.

Offer effective coaching, teaching, and modeling to facilitate crisis de-escalation and support processing of crisis situations.

Monitor and promptly address behavioral issues, adhere to safety standards, and promote problem-solving dialogue.


Utilize and practice the Sanctuary Model tools: safety plans, community meetings, psycho-educational groups, team meetings, red flag reviews, treatment planning conferences (or similar), and self-care, as applicable, to foster a non-violent and trauma-sensitive culture.

Incorporate the Sanctuary Model SELF (Safety, Emotional Management, Loss, and Future) framework into daily practice to ensure quality care and a productive work environment.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Master's in Social Work

New York State LCSW Required

Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred.

Ability to remain flexible and maintain collaborative communication

Two years of experience in clinical assessment, individual and/or family therapy

Familiarity with trauma-based interventions is preferred.

Knowledge of DSM-V and diagnostic criteria

Commitment to work from a strength-based, youth and family development, and trauma-informed perspective.
