We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Crew Supervisor to join our team at Marmon Holdings, Inc. As a key member of our rail operations team, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating switch crews in the movement and placement of rail cars in a rail yard.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and Coordinate Crews: Oversee the work assigned to the crew, ensuring that it is completed in a safe and efficient manner.
- Train and Develop Employees: Provide training and development opportunities to new employees, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Operate Locomotives: Operate electric, diesel-electric, or gas-turbine-electric locomotives, ensuring safe and efficient movement of rail cars.
- Interpret Train Orders and Signals: Interpret train orders, signals, and rules and regulations, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
- Communicate with Yard Coordinator: Communicate frequently with the yard coordinator, reporting progress and coordinating crew activities.
- Plan and Direct Movement of Rail Cars: Plan and direct the movement of rail cars, ensuring timely and correct switching and placement.
- Experience: 1+ years of supervisory experience, preferably in a rail operations environment.
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
- Skills: Good communication skills, ability to assess multiple tasks and develop a plan to complete them in a timely manner, and ability to work well with others as part of a team.
The physical demands of this role include frequent standing and walking, occasional sitting, and moderate to heavy physical effort involved in lifting and carrying equipment.
Environmental Conditions- Moderate to heavy physical effort involved.
- Climbs, walks, and balances on top of cars.
- Uses hand tools, power tools, and equipment.
- Must follow prescribed safety rules to avoid possible injury.
