We are seeking an experienced Senior Legal Advisor to join our Legal Services team at Western Power. As a key member of our team, you will provide high-quality legal advice and support to ensure the effective implementation of our operational activities, business strategies, and policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert legal advice to various departments within Western Power, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Lead complex legal matters, including those related to safety, human resources, property, commercial, regulatory, and claims management.
  • Support the Managing Counsel and Senior Legal Counsel in providing legal, governance, and company secretary support to the organization.
  • Manage the drafting and negotiation of commercial documents and contracts, including third-party relationships.
  • Prepare instructions and briefs for external lawyers and barristers, working collaboratively to achieve effective outcomes.

About You

We are looking for someone with a strong background in law, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. You should have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Law from a common law jurisdiction.
  • Admission as a legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of WA and a current practicing certificate.
  • Expertise in a range of legal areas, including electricity and energy, commercial contracts, construction law, compliance and policy, employment, property, or disputes.
  • Organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to provide practical advice by applying legal concepts to a commercial business.
  • Demonstrated commercial and business focus.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism, with the ability to manage stakeholder relationships.
