Job Title: Fire Alarm Technician

Chenega Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Fire Alarm Technician to join our team. As a Fire Alarm Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm systems in various locations.

Responsibilities:
  • Analyze blueprints, schematics, and drawings to determine the efficient installation of new and upgraded fire alarm systems.
  • Diagnose causes of fire alarm problems or failures in the system to identify equipment and/or systems repair.
  • Install fire alarm system components, such as panels, audible/visual alarms, pull stations, detectors, etc., to provide enhanced and/or upgraded system capabilities.
  • Respond to emergency situations during and after hours to resolve safety concerns.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Valid NICET II Fire Alarm Technician certification issued by any municipality in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area, which includes any county in Maryland and Virginia, or the District of Columbia.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and appliances needed for the installation, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm circuits, related fixtures, and hardware.
  • Ability to follow maintenance instructions, schedules, and inspection of work orders and other job assignments.
  • Ability to perform maintenance services, diagnose systems or equipment malfunctions, and complete repairs when required.
  • Knowledge of the composition, operation, and installation of a variety of fire alarm systems, circuits, equipment, and controls.
  • Knowledgeable of national and local electrical codes and fire alarm codes.
  • Ability to plan, lay out, and complete the installation, modification, and repair of various fire alarm systems, circuits, equipment, and controls.
  • Ability to interpret and apply building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings, and must be skilled in the use of a wide variety of test equipment, such as voltmeter, ammeter, wattmeter, and ohmmeter.
Physical Demands:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee may use repeated motions that include the arms, wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The employee is occasionally required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
