Job Summary

U.S. Bank is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Underwriting Manager to lead our Business Banking Underwriting department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the activities of our underwriting staff, ensuring quality service and effective support for our internal and external customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate the activities of the underwriting department, ensuring effective support for internal and external customers.
  • Administer corporate policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Conduct underwriting review process to minimize risk while employing problem resolution techniques in approving loans.
  • Provide support and training for underwriting staff, including underwriting guidelines.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve underwriting efficiency and effectiveness.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Typically eight to 10 years of related experience.
  • Effective supervisory and management skills in Business Banking or Commercial Underwriting.
  • SBA Lending experience and thorough knowledge of SBA SOP.
  • Expert level of knowledge of all underwriting functions.
  • Strong organizational, managerial, and problem-solving skills.
  • Well-developed customer relations skills.
  • Proficient interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Preferred Skills
  • Advanced knowledge of credit policies, credit analysis, procedures, and philosophy.
  • Strong analytical skills in relation to evaluating asset utilization and goals.
  • Demonstrated analytical and risk analysis skills.
  • Demonstrated management and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in nCino, Moody's Credit Lens, and Microsoft Suite.
