Job Overview

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitates the planning, organization, execution, and assessment of activities within the nursing station.
  • Upholds the confidentiality of patient, hospital, and physician data.
  • Engages in Quality Improvement initiatives.
  • Gathers and records patient information accurately.
  • Alerts nursing staff regarding patient needs and requests.
  • Assists with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Demonstrates proficient clerical skills relevant to the Ward Clerk role.
  • Fosters positive public relations for the nursing department and hospital.
  • Employs fundamental problem-solving abilities.
  • Serves as a central communication point at the nursing station.
  • Initiates and maintains an up-to-date patient kardex.
  • Organizes patient charges systematically.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completion of an accredited Ward Clerk training program is preferred.
  • Prior experience as a Ward Clerk is advantageous.
  • Possesses knowledge and skills pertinent to the age of the patient population.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • May involve prolonged periods of standing, sitting, and walking.
  • Utilizes proper body mechanics for lifting tasks.
  • Ability to read handwritten notes and visualize the work environment is essential.
  • Must be able to hear and communicate effectively with healthcare team members.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 3 PM
