Job Summary:

As a Maintenance Technician B at Republic Services, you will play a critical role in ensuring our fleet of vehicles is in top working condition. This is a hands-on position where you will diagnose and repair complex issues with diesel and non-diesel equipment, including chassis components, vehicle refuse bodies, and control systems.

You will work under the direct supervision of a Lead Technician, Maintenance Supervisor, or Maintenance Manager and will be responsible for performing preventative and repair maintenance functions on-site and on the road. This includes, but is not limited to, engine repair and maintenance, suspension, drivetrain, and steering systems, as well as heating and air conditioning.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a working knowledge of and moderate skill proficiency in various vehicle components and systems, including chassis components, refuse bodies, engine repair, suspension, drivetrain, steering systems, and heating and air conditioning.
  • Perform preventative and repair maintenance functions on-site and on the road, including line maintenance welding and fabrication.
  • Safely provide road service when necessary to ensure that the Company's equipment is returned to operation in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Identify the source of malfunctions using electronic tools.
Requirements:
  • Basic understanding of work order labor time standards.
  • Prior experience with maintenance work on Classes 1-5 light/medium-duty and heavy-duty Class 7-8 trucks, aircraft, or ships.
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications (T1-T8) are a plus but not required.
  • Valid Driver's License.
