Mosquito Control Technician II

Join the City of Jacksonville, FL team as a Mosquito Control Technician II and contribute to the protection of public health and the environment.
Job Summary:This role involves technical work in the investigation and treatment of mosquito breeding areas. The successful candidate will possess knowledge of mosquito control methods, biology, and identification, as well as the ability to operate specialized equipment and vehicles.
Key Responsibilities:- Inspect known breeding areas to determine mosquito larval populations.
- Perform mosquito landing rate counts and investigate oviposition sites.
- Interview, research, and respond to citizen inquiries and service requests.
- Collect and identify mosquitoes.
- Record data pertaining to inspections.
- Operate motor vehicles equipped with mobile communication equipment.
- Apply mosquito adulticides and larvicides.
- Surveys established catch basin routes, updates, and modifies as needed.
- Calibrate, maintain, repair, and clean equipment.
- Maintain yard and buildings.
- Respond to emergency activations and recoveries in accordance with administrative direction.
- Operate standard office equipment, including personal computers, word processing, spreadsheet, database, mobile devices, and other related applications.
- Two years of education and/or experience in pest control work.
- Possession of a Public Health Pest Control Certification from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services may be substituted for one year of experience.
