Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Unity Health Care. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality medical care to our patients, working closely with our medical staff to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Provide preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic services to patients, under the supervision of a physician.
  • Obtain medical histories and conduct physical examinations and evaluations as appropriate.
  • Order and interpret laboratory/radiology testing, as needed.
  • Make diagnoses and prescribe therapeutic measures of care, including medications.
  • Provide teaching for health maintenance and specific health problems, and develop/participate in screening programs.
  • Make appropriate referrals to specialists, 24-hour shelters, and hospitals.
  • Recognize and manage common acute and chronic illnesses within your scope of practice.
  • Provide immediate emergency care as needed, and make arrangements for transport to appropriate hospital or health service when necessary.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited physician assistant program and passing the NCCPA exam.
  • Current DC PA License.
  • 2-3 years of experience in an ambulatory care setting, with some contact with homeless patients.
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field.
Working Conditions

This position involves everyday risk and discomforts, which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meetings, training rooms, and other UHC health care sites.

The employee shall provide evidence of a recent (within the past twelve months) health assessment that includes a PPD and/or chest x-ray results.
