Banner Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Staff Manager to lead the daily operations of our medical staff services department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supervising subordinate medical staff positions, monitoring office functions, and ensuring efficient and effective operations that meet the needs of both physicians and administrators.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and manage subordinate medical staff positions, including credentialing, peer review, and other required medical staff functions.
- Compose and review medical staff by-laws, rules, regulations, and other medico-legal matters for medical staff and management approval.
- Manage the credentialing process for medical staff and allied health professionals, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain effective communications and professional relationships between medical staff leadership and the medical staff at large.
- Serve as an information resource to administration, physicians, and staff concerning bylaws, policies, and procedures, and Joint Commission requirements.
- Assist in developing future direction and strategies for the development of medical staff, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
- Provide oversight of medical and allied health staff, including planning and monitoring departmental budgets.
- Gather, analyze, and monitor utilization data to inform reappointment, peer review, and quality improvement processes.
- Bachelor's degree in business, human relations, or related field.
- Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) certification or significant experience in medical staff services with a commitment to obtaining CPMSM certification within 2 years.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a medical staff services setting, with a strong understanding of hospital organizations, medical staff operations, policies, rules, and regulations.
- Managerial experience, preferably in a medical staff services setting, with a proven track record of leadership and supervision.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interface and communicate effectively with medical staff, administrators, legal counsel, and hospital personnel.
- Knowledge of medical staff computer software programs.
- Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
