Summary Under the direction of a registered/licensed nurse (RN), the Patient Care Tech as a member of the interdisciplinary health care team assists in clinical support functions to promote a safe, compassionate patient care environment.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out patient care plans as directed by Registered Nurses.
- Provide patient physical care, including bed baths, toileting, grooming, and changing bed linen, per established guidelines.
- Assist with patient general care, such as positioning, lifting, and turning, and using adaptive and transfer equipment per established guidelines.
- Perform patient monitoring activities, such as vital signs and blood glucose, per established guidelines.
- Prepare patients for meals and assist with feeding as needed.
- Perform regular patient rounds and respond promptly to call lights to meet patients' needs.
- Document patient care in a timely manner, adhering to established standards.
- Organize patient rooms to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Collect and label specimens according to established procedures.
- Provide mentoring and teaching to new nursing assistants to meet performance expectations.
- Complete additional department, organization, or network activities as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience- Education/Degree Required: High school diploma, GED or equivalent required unless candidate holds a nursing assistant certification.
- Experience/Certification Required: Recent experience and/or training in clinical patient care.
- Preferred: Enrollment in a Nursing, Pre-Med, or Physician Assistant (PA) undergraduate program, with a minimum of one semester of completed patient care rotations at the time of hire. OR Possession of a valid license, certification, or enrollment as a student in a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Mental Health Technician, or EMT-accredited program at the time of hire.
Skills (Specific learned activity gained through training): Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills with the English language. Must demonstrate basic skills in math and computer science. Must demonstrate the ability to perform, modify, and record all physical therapy skills with relevance to appropriate thoroughness and sequencing. Healthcare Provider CPR certification required. Knowledge of DPH/OEMS regulations.
