The Floor Technician is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of hard surface and carpeted areas within the Medstar facilities. This includes performing routine maintenance tasks, operating specialized equipment, and ensuring a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform preventative maintenance checks on equipment prior to use.
- Secure work areas and post safety notices as needed.
- Conduct floor care activities, including mopping, buffing, and burnishing hard surface floors and stairwells.
- Operate vacuum cleaners, shampooers, bonneting machines, and extractors for carpet and upholstery maintenance.
- Perform wall cleaning and dusting tasks.
- Conduct routine restroom and office/classroom cleaning.
- Maintain floor care equipment and perform terminal cleaning with UV machines.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 3 years of directly relevant job-related experience may be substituted for educational requirement.
- 1 year experience and/or successful completion of the DES Floor Tech training program required.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Knowledge of floor care processes and safe use of chemical agents.
- Ability to operate various pieces of equipment, such as high-speed buffers, extractors, and pressure washers.
