Position Overview:

The Production Planning Specialist plays a crucial role in formulating and overseeing all production and distribution timelines. This position consolidates the comprehensive schedule based on operational, shipment, inventory, and production strategies, acting as a key liaison among Engineering, Sales, Production, and Shipping divisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize Oracle ERP and Op Center systems to create short-term production schedules while considering long-term objectives.
  • Determine and assess scheduling priorities for work orders.
  • Address Supply, Demand, and Capacity challenges while maximizing labor and equipment efficiency.
  • Implement effective schedules to achieve optimal On-Time In-Full (OTIF) or On-Time Delivery (OTD) rates.
  • Conduct and collaborate on all capacity planning initiatives, aligning output with designated production sectors.
  • Employ Oracle ERP to synchronize Sales Orders with the master schedule via Op Center; manage the availability of raw materials, semi-finished products, supplies, equipment, and personnel to meet delivery timelines.
  • Review existing processes and propose enhancements to boost the efficiency of project planning and scheduling.
  • Ensure all Work Orders and projects are accurately documented and finalized in scheduling systems.
  • Evaluate and implement ERP methodologies necessary for planning, scheduling, controlling, measuring, and assessing the effectiveness of production operations.
  • Effectively communicate forecasts for finished goods and inventory estimates to the Management team.
  • Monitor and report significant shifts in sales forecasts, budgets, and business strategies, prioritizing customer mitigation efforts.
  • Promptly address demand-related challenges.
  • Timely coordinate and communicate production schedules to team members.
  • Manage load balancing and bottleneck scheduling, applying the theory of constraints (TOC) for enhanced scheduling accuracy.
  • Oversee and execute Effectivity Dates for Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
  • Generate and maintain production orders within Op Center in accordance with production plans for commercial and validation activities.
  • Monitor and control inventory levels; establish safety stock parameters.
  • Ensure that ERP system data elements related to the supply chain and planning are configured correctly.
  • Identify weekly manufacturing variances and report them to the cost accounting team.
  • Analyze standard costs against actual costs, identifying and explaining manufacturing variances.
  • Maintain a safe and efficient work environment in accordance with company policies, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Batch Record instructions. Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement related to the role and engage in their execution.
  • Align ERP production schedules with customer expectations.
  • Report directly to the Supply Chain Manager.
  • Conduct monthly maintenance of forecasts.

Additional Duties:

  • Carry out other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management or Operations Management.
  • A minimum of 6 years of prior planning experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience with Oracle (or other Tier 1 or 2 ERP systems).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with Op Center (or other Tier 1 or 2 Manufacturing Operations Management systems).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong computer proficiency.
  • Excellent decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated experience in tracking production efficiencies and reporting metrics to senior management.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and techniques for optimizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Proficient in the use of computer systems and software applications.
  • Strong problem-solving and customer service skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • Prior experience in information technology or systems administration.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
