We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Specialist to join our team at Services for the UnderServed. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of our residential facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain a high level of cleanliness and organization in assigned areas, including floor care, bathroom cleaning, and trash removal.
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs and fixing leaky faucets.
- Assist with snow and ice removal, as well as upkeep of the grounds, including sidewalk maintenance and landscaping.
- Support staff with special events, such as setting up chairs and tables, and ensuring the area is clean and safe.
- Maintain building maintenance tools and machinery to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Order cleaning supplies, paper products, and other necessary materials, and maintain a biweekly inventory.
- Assist with moving and storing program supplies, office furniture, and other items as needed.
- Comply with all SUS Employee Policies, Procedures, and Protocols, as well as SUS Cooperative Compliance Policies.
- Be willing to assist with emergencies and wear the SUS maintenance uniform at all times.
- Complete other tasks assigned by the Director or Superintendent.
- Attend staff meetings, group supervision, and trainings as needed.
- Assist with apartment turnover, including plastering, sanding walls, and painting, as well as transporting residents and property to new apartments.
- At least one year of maintenance and cleaning experience in a large residential or program setting.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with mentally ill individuals.
- Valid NY State Driver's License.
- Minimum one year experience working with mentally ill individuals within a residential or scatter-site program.
- Air conditioner installation, lock and cylinder changes, smoke detector installation, etc.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Bilingual English/Spanish speaking.
- Experience working within a Supportive Housing setting.
