Job Title: Director, Transfer and Career Center(s)

Chaffey College is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Director of Transfer and Career Services. This is a full-time, 12-month position that will provide leadership and direction to the Transfer and Career Center(s) at Chaffey College.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement program plans, policies, and procedures to support College goals and comply with state and federal mandates;
  • Develop and manage operational budgets;
  • Supervise and train assigned personnel;
  • Monitor student progress;
  • Prepare reports;
  • Evaluate program effectiveness;
  • Facilitate an environment of inclusiveness and equity-mindedness;
  • Collaborate with counselors, faculty, matriculation personnel, and students to address transfer students' needs for information, academic guidance, and application assistance;
  • Develop strategies to promote transfer opportunities to all students;
  • Address unique needs of underrepresented students and identify resources for students with special needs;
  • Maintain knowledge of the unique needs within various academic programs, prioritize and direct initiatives to develop programs and resources relevant to those needs in collaboration with area faculty and other stakeholders;
  • Collaborate with College workforce development and Career Technical Education programs to create pathways and procedures to transition students from certificate/degree completion to job placement opportunities;
  • Identify general and career technical education needs related to high growth jobs, develop supports and training in response to needs, and collaborate with local employers and organizations on internship and career opportunities for students;
  • Develop relationships with industry sectors and employers to enhance job placement for students and graduates;
  • Oversee a student-facing center(s) ensuring exceptional service, relevant supports, and modern technology and tools while ensuring operational efficiency;
  • Ensure modern, relevant, and effective online services, tools, and supports representative of the standards and identity of the College;
  • Develop and manage operational budgets; and recommend specific needs for staffing, facilities, and capital expenditures to support identified program goals in alignment with College resource planning and program review and evaluation;
  • Maintain currency in educational and industry trends impacting outcomes in assigned areas, relevant regulations and requirements, and local and statewide goals and initiatives;
  • Establish and oversee procedures for tracking students and monitoring their progress toward transfer and established career outcomes, collect and report data reflecting students' transfer readiness and college transfer rates, comply with state reporting requirements, maintain/update as appropriate strategic plans for transfer and career services;
  • Develop and ensure effective team dynamics and standards; and train, supervise, and evaluate assigned personnel;
  • Attend regional meetings, various activities and functions related to assigned area outcomes, and local and state conferences;
  • Serve as liaison between student services, instructional programs, and other college offices/departments to develop strategies to achieve transfer and career outcomes;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree AND one (1) year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the position;
  • Understanding of program planning and implementation, supervision, and budgeting;
  • Demonstrated evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds in a community college environment;
  • Knowledge of current practices in the organization and facilitation of college and university transfer and high school success requirements;
  • Knowledge of current career development practices and programming; job search and job development methods; and career preparation skills, supports, and training;
  • Knowledge of current transfer pathways and requirements of four-year institutions;
  • Knowledge of educational and industry trends impacting outcomes in assigned areas, relevant regulations and requirements, and local and statewide goals and initiatives;
  • Principles of team development and effectiveness, supervision, training, and employee evaluation;
  • Financial and statistical record keeping and data analysis;
  • Ability to work with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff to plan, develop, and implement programs and services related to the assigned areas;
  • Ability to evaluate needs, present recommendations, and make comprehensive oral and written presentations;
  • Ability to develop and ensure the delivery of effective transfer and career services both in-person and online;
  • Ability to work effectively in meeting educational and cultural needs of citizens with widely diverse backgrounds, abilities, interests, and goals;
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and others contacted in the course of performing assigned duties;
  • Ability to develop an effective team(s), and supervise, train, and evaluate personnel;
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing;
  • Ability to represent the College at a variety of venues including transfer institutions, community and business organizations, and potential employers;
Desirable Qualifications:
  • At least two (2) years of supervisory or managerial experience in a two-year college or university student service setting in a reasonably related assignment;
  • At least two (2) years of leadership experience in career services, career development, workforce development, or a closely related field;
  • At least two (2) years of leadership experience in transfer services, transfer-related guidance, or a closely related department or support structure;
  • Experience managing the operations of a student-facing department, program, or service;
  • Experience supervising and evaluating bargaining unit employees;
  • Knowledge of admissions and transfer processes between community colleges and four-year institutions;
  • Understanding and utilization of modern and digital research methods, including collection and statistical compilation and analysis of data for decision-making, as well as procedures for tracking and maintaining student and program records;
  • Experience in planning and supervising the coordination of events to serve a multi-ethnic underrepresented and non-traditional student body, staff, and community;
  • Direct experience in working with equity-related programs to mitigate disproportionate impact and close achievement gaps;
  • Familiarity with techniques used to recruit, motivate, and retain students in college academic programs and supports.
Additional Information:

Positions in this classification may be required to work varied hours according to need. This is a full-time, 12-month position; Level III, Range 25 of the Management Personnel Plan with starting salary of Step A, $11,833/month. Effective date of employment will be as soon as a successful candidate is selected and a mutually agreed upon date is determined. Excellent benefits include: health care, dental program, and vision services for employees and eligible dependents; and retirement coverage through the California Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS). Being able and ready to work onsite at a Chaffey facility or location is an essential function of this job. Being able and ready to work in-person with Chaffey students, Chaffey employees, or other members of the Chaffey community/Chaffey partners/Chaffey contractors is an essential function of this job.
