Law Enforcement Patrol Officer

Position Summary:
The East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office is seeking dedicated individuals for the role of Uniformed Patrol Officer. These officers are responsible for maintaining public safety and enforcing laws within designated areas of East Baton Rouge Parish.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular patrols of assigned regions to deter and detect criminal activity.
- Respond promptly to calls for assistance and emergencies.
- Enforce traffic regulations by stopping vehicles for violations and conducting investigations.
- Apprehend suspects and issue citations as necessary.
- Provide immediate medical assistance at accident scenes until professional help arrives.
- Prepare comprehensive reports on incidents and arrests.
- Testify in court regarding cases handled.
Work Schedule: 12-hour rotating shifts
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must meet one of the following criteria:
- One year of experience as a POST certified law enforcement officer in a full-time capacity.
- Possession of Louisiana Law Enforcement POST Certification.
- One year of active military service.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- At least 80 semester hours from an accredited college or university in a relevant degree program.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Starting annual salary of $45,393.

All candidates will undergo a thorough background check, physical fitness assessment, polygraph test, psychological evaluation, and pre-employment medical examination including drug screening.
Disqualifying Factors:
- Felony convictions.
- Convictions for perjury, false statements, or moral turpitude.
- Illegal marijuana use within the past year.
- Illegal use of prescription drugs within the past two years.
- Any use of illegal drugs (excluding marijuana) within the past two years.
