About the Internship

At SWM International, we are seeking talented college students for internships that provide the opportunity to develop their advanced analytics and data science skills while supporting our strategic objectives.

The interns will also build networking relationships and receive mentoring from team members and top-level management.

The internship program is designed to provide a well-rounded experience including meaningful work, a dedicated intern manager, community service opportunities, professional development and more.

Responsibilities

Our interns will have specific projects within one or more of the following areas of focus:

Data Analytics

Enable and work with the BI team to build new capabilities in the Azure Cloud Environment and Power BI front end environments.
Assist with developing documentation and repositories for the data models and dashboards engineered
Interact with business and IT teams to identify questions and issues for data analysis and experiments
Participate in multiple stages of analytics projects, including design, data integration, data modeling, and data visualization.
Use strategic thinking and perform data analytics for a variety of business problems and opportunities and create data-driven insights
Work with a variety of data modeling, data visualization, and analytical tools including Power BI, Data Bricks, and programming languages like SQL, Python, and DAX.
Help maintain and optimize data pipelines and reporting infrastructure.

Business Intelligence

Design and develop models to build solutions to tackle real-world business problems
Understand software development lifecycle and work in a professional environment
Participate in meetings across business and IT to develop business requirements
Work on data profiling activities to understand the quality and consistency of SWM International data
Learn the existing models & visualizations developed by the data and analytics team and will help standardize those using pipelines
Understand the manufacturing process and understand common data manipulation tasks
Communicate findings and project status clearly and professionally through presentations

Artificial Intelligence

Enable and work with the SWM International Data & Analytics team to build new capabilities in the Azure, Databricks, Power BI, and Rapid Miner environments.
Rigorously test models to evaluate performance and accuracy
Understand software development lifecycle and work in a professional environment
Work with a variety of languages, data applications, and analytical tools including SQL, Python, DataBricks, ADLS, and MES and ERP systems.
Participate in multiple stages of data science projects, including data pipeline, aggregation, feature engineering, modeling, and visualization.
Learn the existing models developed by the data and analytics team and help standardize those using pipelines

Qualifications

Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business Analytics, Information Technology, Mathematics, Data Science, or any related degree.
Minimum GPA requirement of 3.0.
Experience with Excel and PowerPoint
Understanding of data pipelines and data integration
Experience with data governance and data modeling concepts

Nice to have

SQL, R, and Python and/or other Object-Oriented languages
Software and data model engineering concepts such as versioning, model deployment and model retraining etc.
Python libraries experience such as Pandas, NumPy, MLFlow, Scikit-Learn, Matplotlib, Pytest, TensorFlow, and PyTorch.
Understanding of git workflows and CI/CD
Experience creating and editing data visualizations using Power BI, Grafana, DataBricks or other BI Tools
